What can’t be stored in a thermos?

Table of Contents

As the weather gradually cools down, everyone will put water in a thermos to preserve it. I believe everyone knows that thermos cups are very convenient and can keep water at a certain temperature. But everyone must remember that these five types of water should never be put in a thermos. What exactly are they?

1. Tea leaves

If tea is brewed in a thermos, the tea leaves will be soaked in high temperature and constant temperature water for a long time, and a large amount of vitamins in the tea will be destroyed. Aromatic oils will also evaporate, and tannic acid and theophylline will also enter and exit in large quantities, reducing the nutritional value of the tea and making the tea taste bitter. At the same time, tea also releases some heavy metal substances, which are harmful to our physical health.

2. Acidic beverage water

A thermos cannot hold fruit juice and carbonated beverages. Because the inner wall of the thermos cup is made of stainless steel. If carbonated beverages are consumed for a long time, there may be a chemical reaction that can affect human health.

Many beverages such as cola, Sprite, orange juice, etc. cannot be put into a thermos. Because the inner lining of the thermos cup is made of high manganese ice nickel, it is easy to corrode if it encounters acidic substances. So please don’t pour this acidic juice into the thermos. They absorb heavy metals when exposed to acidic substances, which can pose a certain level of harm to their bodies when consumed. Moreover, when acidic fruit juice drinks are poured into a thermos, their nutrients will be lost and their taste will change

3. Milk

Under the high temperature and heat conditions inside a thermos, microorganisms in milk will rapidly multiply, which can easily cause abdominal pain and diarrhea symptoms in people. At the same time, acidic substances in milk can react with the inner wall of the thermos cup, causing very adverse effects on human health.

4. soybean milk

Microbes in soybean milk will accelerate reproduction under warm conditions. If there is scale left in the insulation cup, the saponin in soybean milk will dissolve the scale after soybean milk is loaded. When people drink it, it will also have adverse effects on their bodies.

5. Honey water

Honey is weakly alkaline and also acidic. When in contact with a thermos, it is prone to oxidation and chemical reactions that cause honey to turn black. Remember not to store honey in a thermos because honey contains a lot of sugar, and soaking it in a thermos can easily corrode the metal inside.
